Faith
HRCDC’s roots are in Christian faith, but our approach is guided by being faith-based, not faith-biased, welcoming people of all faiths, and those with none. We believe that spirituality, reflection, and wellbeing are vital components of a healthy, vibrant, thriving, and inclusive community, and that nurturing these aspects helps people and neighbourhoods flourish.
Supporting wellbeing through faith
We actively facilitate a variety of faith initiatives within the new housing areas of Houghton Regis and the wider community. These activities are designed to support connection, hope, and belonging, recognising the important role that spiritual care plays in people’s lives. Through our work, we emphasise chaplaincy and journeying with peopleduring the milestone moments of life — from celebrations to times of loss, change, or challenge.
Our regular faith initiatives
Church Service at Thorn Springs Care Home – Held on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:30pm, offering residents, staff, and visitors a time of worship, reflection, and fellowship.
Messy Church at The Farmstead, Linmere – Held on the third Saturday of each month from 10:00–11:30am, bringing families together for fun, creativity, and a hands-on exploration of faith.
The Gathering – An early grassroots expression of Christian community, meeting on the third Sunday of the month at 3:00pm, alternating between Esquire Coffee Shop and local homes. This informal gathering provides space for conversation, reflection, and relationship-building in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Through these initiatives, HRCDC seeks to create spaces of spiritual care, connection, and community that are welcoming to everyone, recognising that wellbeing and faith go hand in hand in building a flourishing neighbourhood.
